In motor control centers (MCCs), withdrawable unit technology offers numerous advantages, particularly in industries where faults must be rectified without halting the process (e.g., the chemical industry or water treatment plants).
The withdrawable modules can be easily inserted and removed. The wiring found in conventional connection systems is eliminated in the withdrawable unit system. It is user-friendly in terms of both visual design and practical operation.
PREMIUM-X panels have been developed in accordance with the “IEC 61439-2 Low-Voltage Switchgear and Controlgear Assemblies” standard. Featuring a modular design, they accommodate mounting configurations suitable for switchgear products from ABB, Legrand, Eaton, Schneider, and Siemens. They allow for the installation of circuit breakers—along with all necessary accessories—based on the horizontal and vertical mounting types specific to the product ranges of the aforementioned manufacturers. With our specially designed profile structure featuring 27 bends, our PREMIUM-X cabinets offer customers numerous advantages in terms of quality and ease of assembly.
Unlike traditional connection methods, the technical principle of the contact module is based on “switching.” The switching principle eliminates the material wear associated with plug-in connections, forming the basis for the system’s most significant advantages.
When the MCC is in the “operating” position, the contact module facilitates power transmission from the field distribution busbar to the cable outlets via a field-extendable control connection.
In the “open circuit” position, the switching contacts and control contacts retract, allowing the drawer module to be removed from the equipment compartment.
Technical Details
The field distribution busbar is integrated between the equipment and cable compartments and features arc-fault protection. Depending on the internal partitioning (up to Form 4), a high level of personnel and operational safety is ensured.
Cable entry into the cable terminal compartment is possible from both the top and the bottom. Spaces and modules are designed based on a 25 mm grid in accordance with DIN 43660 (25 mm = 1 module).
Standard modules come in height increments of 75 mm (3 modules); available types include 3, 6, 9, and 12-module units. The preferred width for the equipment compartment is 600 mm.
The system holds a 50 kA/1s type-test certification according to IEC 60439.

Product Certifications:
PREMIUM-XW is a modular, draw-out panel system developed for motor control centers (MCC) and low-voltage power distribution applications. It ensures operational continuity by allowing faulty modules to be replaced without shutting down the entire system.
The PREMIUM-XW panel system has been developed in accordance with the IEC 61439-2 standard. Additionally, seismic and vibration tests are conducted on the product under IEC 60068-3-3.
PREMIUM-X is a general-purpose modular low-voltage panel and enclosure system, while PREMIUM-XW is a solution specifically designed for withdrawable motor control center applications. In the PREMIUM-XW system, withdrawable modules can be operated in service, test, and disconnected positions.
A drawer-type MCC panel is a system in which the control and protection components for motors, pumps, and other electrical equipment are housed in separate drawer modules. The modules can be easily removed or replaced, and new modules can be added to the system.
The main advantages of the PREMIUM-XW drawer system are:
Provided that appropriate design, operational, and safety conditions are met, faulty drawer modules can be replaced or new modules added without shutting down the entire system. This feature offers a significant advantage, particularly for industrial facilities requiring uninterrupted operation.
Fully withdrawable modules can be locked in operating, test, and disconnected positions. Power and control connections are active in the operating position. The test position allows for functional checks, while the disconnected position enables the safe removal of the module.
Draw-out modules are available in standard configurations with 3 or 4 poles and current ratings of 125 A, 315 A, and 630 A. The specific module and current rating must be selected based on the project’s electrical requirements.
The PREMIUM-XW panel system supports an operating current of up to 6300 A. The busbar short-time withstand current can reach 120 kA, while the busbar peak withstand current can reach 264 kA. The vertical busbar operating current is up to 1400 A.
The system’s rated voltage is 400 V AC, and its operating voltage is up to 690 V. The operating insulation voltage reaches 1000 V, and the impulse withstand voltage reaches 8 kV. The operating frequency is 50–60 Hz.
PREMIUM-XW can be configured for compatibility with TN-C, TN-S, TN-C-S, TT, and IT network systems. The grounding and protection scheme must be determined in accordance with the facility’s electrical design.
The PREMIUM-XW enclosure system can provide an ingress protection rating of up to IP55. The system also features IK10 mechanical impact resistance. The protection level should be evaluated based on the selected enclosure configuration and project conditions.
The standard PREMIUM-XW usage class is included. If outdoor use is planned, a specialized enclosure solution suitable for conditions involving rain, humidity, sunlight, temperature, corrosion, and dust should be considered.
Form 4b segregation ensures the separation of busbars, functional units, and external conductor connections from one another. This structure helps limit the spread of faults to other sections, enhances maintenance safety, and supports operational continuity.
In the PREMIUM-XW contact module, power transmission is achieved through a switching principle rather than a conventional plug-in connection. In the operating position, power and control connections are engaged. In the open-circuit position, the switching and control contacts are retracted, allowing the module to be removed from the equipment compartment.
PREMIUM-XW withdrawable-unit MCC systems are used particularly in the following areas:
When selecting the panel, factors such as the facility’s operating voltage, rated current, short-circuit withstand capacity, motor power, number of drawer modules, compartmentalization level, protection class, and cable entry direction must be taken into account. The correct configuration should be determined by reviewing the single-line diagram and project specifications.
The main documents provided for the PREMIUM-XW product family are as follows:
Scope and validity of the certificates and the relevant product
Compatibility with the configuration must be confirmed by GVD prior to the project.
